What Could The Buttock Lump With Pain And Discomfort Be?
Hello I came across this website when looking up a similar question that was listed and answered below, Noticed painful lump on inside of butt cheek. What should I do? I have a similar case, but this last question did not specify whether the lump was on top of the skin or under the skin as my lump is. I believe I recall having this lump for a little over two months. I thought it was due to me shaving and maybe forming an ingrown hair, but now it causes discomfort or pain when I wash that region. Im worried about (god forbid) a tumor. What is your professional opinion (sight unseen of course)?
Hi ! Good afternoon. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
Even though it needs a personal physical examination to opine on the lesion, from your history alone, this could be a pilonidal cyst, which gave rise to pain on being infected, and on discharge of the infected material could form a pilonidal sinus. I would advise you to take an appointment with a general surgeon in your area for further management of the lesion.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
