What Could The Scab With Pus On Toe Without An Injury Indicate?

My toe has a scab type thing between the nail & meat of my right toe. It bleeds often & pus comes out. The skin is peeling badly all around it & it is bright red & swollen. It only hurts when pressure is applied. I've been to the doctor & they believed it was a bruised toe, but it doesn't seem like a bruised toe. What do you think it is? & what should I do about it?

Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post indicate that you might be having Paronychia.

Management involves:
1. Warm soaks
2. Analgesics like Ibuprofen.
3. Topical antibiotics
4. Systemic antifungal agents may also be used in chronic cases.
5. Surgical management- drainage of pus.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
