What Could Tingling Vaginal Sensations Suggest?

For little over a year, I have had a constant sensation in my vaginal area that I can only describe as a 'tingle'. The only relief is when I urinate and the tingle makes me feel like I have to go to the bathroom often. I consulted a GP, who wrote me off as a UTI, even after the urine sample came back negative. I finally got an appointment with a urologist, who, after doing a general examination of the vaginal area, said I had a pretty bad yeast infection. She suggested Monostat cream and gave me a three day pill prescription to prevent it from going systemic (this had been going on for months). After two weeks, I went back and she said the swelling and other physical symptoms were completely gone. However, the tingling sensation remained, but was sometimes accompanied with minor abdominal pain/tenderness. She immediately suggested that I might have an overactive bladder and gave me a sheet of paper with diet tips. Tried the diet tips and the tingling with on/off abdominal pain did not go away. My bladder hasn't dropped (according to my urologist) and I have no idea why I still have the tingling feeling. It has been little over a year now and the tingling has been almost constant. If you can shed any light on why this sensation persists, I would be most grateful. Thank you.
