Hi my name is Jennifer I have a question regarding my 5year old daughter. Just today I noticed she white spots starting to appear on her leg we just got back from the mountains we also where swimming up there. So I guess my question is can it be something from the swimming pool or sun block or the sun ?
Hi. As per your case history your daughter is having either pityriasis alba or pityriasis versicolor (fungal infection). My treatment advice is - 1. Maintain good hygiene and bath twice daily. 2. Apply an emollient cream like Enmoist cream twice daily on it. 3. Apply an antifungal cream like clotrimazole cream twice daily on spots. 4. Other treatment options are oral vitamin A, albendazole, fluconazole taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
