What Course Of Treatment Should Be Given For High Myopia?
My twin nephews were diagnosed at age of three with high myopia, -6D on both eyes. Now they are both at 6 years old with -8 on both eyes. They have been wearing correction lenses since they were diagnosed. Their symptom might be generic, since their father also have high myopia for a long time and they mom with mild myopia since she was young. Both of them had spent a lot of time on Ipad or phone games when they were little. They also take Lutein and some other vitamins. However, their eye sight are not getting any better. I wonder if you would be able to help and provide some new treatment method for those two. Thank you in advance for your help!
Myopia when genetic like this depends on the length of eyeball. Lutein and vitamins have no known role for that and number increase with age as the eye gets more longer.
You may try low conc atropine for a year to prevent rapid progression. Along with it also get retina examination done as in myopia there is a high chance of retinal involvement.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
