What Diet Should Be Taken To Lower The Sugar Levels?
I am 69 years old. I ve been diabetic for about 8 yrs. I try so hard to eat only the right foods. The problem I am having is when I eat certain right foods, my blood sugar may still go up. I also notice that now that I am eating better, when I do eat a bad food, my blood sugar goes sky high. When I was on a not-so-hot diet, if I ate that food, it didn t spike as high. Why am I more sensitive to certain foods now more than ever? Thank you!
Foods can be grouped into different categories: carbohydrates, proteins and fats are the main groups.
Carbohydrates are mainly responsible for raising the blood sugar though slight increases can occur with protein as well. There are also low and high glycemic carbohydrates- this means carbs that raise the blood sugar slowly and those that cause sharp and high increases in blood sugar values.
You need to examine your diet and make note of the foods that cause your blood sugar to rise. It may be best to visit a dietician for assessment and dietary advice.
I hope this helps
