Hello,
Melasma is a chronic disorder experienced by some while some get rid of it in 2-3 months. Melasma gets triggered by taking
contraceptive pills, you can use some other means of
contraception after talking to your gynecologist. Get tested and treated for hormone disorder. Medical conditions like
hypothyroidism, may cause it. People with melasma are often diagnosed with thyroid problem.
Get treated for it. Certain genetic factors may play role in it. Avoid using harsh soap, skin care products that are not herbal. Side effects of certain medicines may be responsible for it. Be cautious while taking any medicines. Avoid taking medicines for a prolonged period.
Avoid makeup and exposure to direct sunlight for a couple of days. You are advised to get clinically examined by a
Dermatologist as melasma may take time to go away. Avoid exposure to LED lights. Applying topical
alpha hydroxy acid is helpful. Tretinoin cream also helpful. Apply the creams only after consultation with a dermatologist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
