What Do Decreased Corticomedullary Differentiation In The Below Report Indicate?
Both kidneys are normal in shape and size with decrease cortico medullary differentiation and cortical thickness. Right kidney measures 9.38cm. Left kidney measures 10.69cm. Bilateral decrease renal cortico medullary differentiation with diminished cortical thickness. Please help me with the meaning and the precautions required.
It would have been better if you have mentioned in your question whether you are a diabetic, your age and your serum creatinine values. The ultrasound report needs to decorrelated with all these parameters. Kidney sizes are normal but the reduced cortico-medullary differentiation can be due to onset of a chronic kidney disease or can in the event of a acute kidney injury.
You should follow up the ultrasound with another scan after 3 months and monthly creatinine values. If you are a diabetic good blood sugar control should also be ensured. Reduced corticomedullary differentiation can be seen in some type of poisonings as well.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
