What Do Elevated SGPT, AGOT And Bilirubin Levels Indicate In A Person With Hepatitis B And Chronic Liver Disease?
my father is having hepatitis B and chronic liver disease. I month ago his sgpt, sgot are around 1000, after 1 months sgpt sgot becomes normal but bilrubin levels are always between 20 to 25. y its not decreasing also sgpt sgot normal means liver function is normal or any iny improvement in my fathers condition
Increased SGOT, SGPT levels in Hepatitis B in positive chronic liver disease indicates probable reactivation of virus with increased disease activity. with medications SGOT, SGPT will reduce and bilirubin also reduces but little bit slow improvement comparatively.
Meanwhile other possibilities like biliary obstruction should be ruled out with imaging like ultrasound abdomen and CT scan will be better if possible. Frequent testing of Bilirubin is needed in this type of situations at least weekly once.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
