What Do Hard And Soft Stools With Blood And Mucus Indicate?
Hi
I am a 36 year old female. I usually experience symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Recently, after eating undercooked chicken in a restaurant I started experiencing stomach disomfort then a few days later I started to have sometimes hard stools and sometimes loose stools with blood and mucus. I went to my doctor who diagnosed my symptoms as being a dysentry infection due to amebiasis (without stool test). After a week of treatment, I went for a colonoscopy and now the biopsy results say that I have Crohn's disease even though I never had any symptmoms. I went back to my family doctor and he was reluctant to accept the result and suggested that it could be a sort of a pseudo-Crohn due to the bacterial infection that I previously had. What should I believe? Could amebiasis cause colon ulcers?
The altered texture of stool with blood and mucus after under cooked chicken suggest intestine infection, which can present as pseudo Crohn`s with Amebiasis.
We recommend GI specific antibiotics with Rifaxim, metronidazole, probiotics and other supportive care to control early.
