Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi my 16 year old daughter asked me about bumps she feels on the front of her lower leg - I want to say when I felt her shin bone below her knee there are definitely hard bumps. She says they don t hurt - and there are no bruises to indicate an impact of any kind. Have you heard of such a thing?
Painless bumps can occur in the body. The front of the leg has skin and the shin bone quite close together and such swellings become prominent and can be felt quite easily.
Bumps which do not cause pain can be due to swellings from the fibrous tissue, or from the bone itself which is usually harmless and can be left alone.
However, any swelling in the body needs to be checked now and then for an increase in size, colour change or pain. If so you need medical attention.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr George Verghese, Orthopaedic Surgeon
