What Do Hot Flashes After Taking Premarin Post Hysterectomy Mean?
I have been on Premarin 1.25mg since my hysterectomy in 2007. Everything has been going fine up until about 6 months ago I started having hot flashes only in the mornings. They only last about an hour then there gone. I don t know if i need to call my doctor and find out what to do. Thanks
The return of hot flashes may be due to lower levels of endogenous estrogens and hence the premarin dose is now not sufficient to prevent them. So you may need an increase in the dose of premarin.
However it is not advocated to take hormone replacement therapy for long term as it has its own adverse effects. So discuss this with your doctor. If the flashes are transient and bearable, just continue with current dose and try natural estrogen products like soya, flax, lentils, yams, carrots and protein supplements with phytoestrogens to decrease your symptoms. Hope this satisfies your query. Thanks for using HCM. Feel free to ask any more questions that you may have. Dr Madhuri Bagde Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist
