What Do Redness And Tenderness At Incision Site After Surgery Indicate?
hi . ihad a gallbladder removal 3/4 months ago. the wound just above navel still has loose ends of stitches protruding. although the wound is giving me no problems there is tenderness and dark redening approx 5/10 mm around each set of stitches. just concerned if they could be infected. thanks
As per your case history you may be having wound site infection or wound gaping.
My advice is: • The signs of redness and tenderness are suggestive of inflammation. So there may be mild infection at that site. • Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream. • Take a NSAID like Ibuprofen for pain and redness. • If complain persists beyond 7 days then consult a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
