Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
During the last week, I have been monitoring my blood pressure at home, in preparation for spending a few months in the southern States as a Snowbird. I want to fill out my medical insurance questionaire, but noticed there is quite a fluctuation in my BP readings. I am not on any medication. My last reading at the doctor s office over a week ago was 160 SBP, but he prescribed no medication, but told me to monitor it at home three times a day, and go back in to see him on Tues. My question would be this: What would cause a BP to fluctuate as per recent readings of 130/84, 138/81, 118/74, 118/70, 111/70, 99/62, 148/74, 103/70, 126/64.? Also, it appears my pulse rate has a correlation with the SBP reading in that when my SBP readings were higher, my pulse was lower, and vice versa. When my SBP reading was 148, my pulse rate was 57. When SBP was 108, my pulse rate was 94, my highest pulse rate. My average pulse rate during this time is about 80 BPM, with lower beats in the morning. Can you shed some light on my situation? Thank you. Linda
Was this fluctuations related to postural change,m I mean when u measured bp in sitting or standing, it was lower side and on lying down it was higher side and reverse for pulse? If it is like that?
