What Do You Suggest For A Cataract?

My 6 wk old grandson has a cataract. The ophthalmologist says he will not remove it as it could cause problems. He said our grandson will be legally blind in that eye. We are looking for a pediatric ophthalmologist for a second opinion. We feel the dr. wasn t sensitive to the baby s impaired vision as he grows. Can t this be removed as an adult cataract is? This is very upsetting news.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that your grandson who is six weeks old is having cataract.
Cataract in this age group should be operated at the earliest as presence of opacity can cause ambylopia and lazy eye. Normal eye is very vital for normal vision development in children to prevent development of ambylopia.
Hence I advice you to consult your ophthalmologist for examination and treatment at the earliest.

Thank you
