Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Do You Suggest For Difficulty In Bowel Movement With A History Of Gastrointestinal Problems?
Yes, I haven't had a bowel movement in over a week, I have tried "fleet enema" and that helped very little. I'm a 49 yr old woman who has had gastrointestinal problems in the past. My question is, I found a bottle of "heavy mineral oil" in my medicine cabinet that is marked good until 10-2013. That wasn't really very long ago, and the bottle has been in a controlled environment. Do you think it would be safe for me to use this??? Thank You, Kathy
General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query.Dont use that medicine which already finished expiry date. Drink more water, take more vegetables and fibres in diet. For my patients if these all wont help i advise to take lactulose syrup before bed. Those who dont respond to that i will advise bisacodyl tab or suppository. If that also not helping then i will advise a manual removal.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
