What Does -4 Power In Both Eyes Mean? Treatment?

respected sir m seema kumari , you had operated my eyelid ( ptosis plication) so m fine there is no any complication , but i want to know about eyevision , what is the meaning of ( -4 power) in both eye , and what is complication is there , if age down then power of eye increase in negative direction , is there any treatment available in aiims . if anybody having ( -4 power) ,is he eligible to marriage. sir plz reply me in brief , becoz it is necessary to know about eyevision problem

Dear Meena,If your ptosis plication is successful then you are suffering from myopia or short sightedness ie -4D.You cannot see distant object properly which is seen by a normal person but you can read and write without any difficulty.Myopia doesn't have any complication unless you have a detail fundus examination to rule out lattice, tear and break in the retina.It may increase or remain stable till the age of 20yrs in average.So you need to have a yearly check up of your eye power and your glasses.You are absolutely eligible for marriage as many people suffer from this refractive error.If you are above 20yrs and you power is stable more than a year you can undergo laser treatment(LASIK) to become glassfree .Now you can even try contact lens.Yah Meena these treatment are available in AIIMS and oher centers too..Don't worry! You are absolutelya normal human being with just some refractive error...Dr Ajay Shankar Kar
