Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does BP- 105/60 And Pulse Rate Of 73 Indicate?
I am 40 and mother of 3; staying in Bahrain. Yesterday I felt slight headache on left side and then checked my BP; it was 107 60 with pulse rate at 86. Today morning again I checked to see BP at 89 54 and pulse rate at 88. On today evening the readings were 105 60; pulse rate 73. Is the above readings are okay with my age. I am not overweight; i.e. 58 kg; 5 feet tall.
I would explain that your blood pressure values are a little low.
For this reason, I would recommend performing some blood lab tests in order to investigate the possible underlying causes:
- complete blood count for anemia - blood electrolytes for possible imbalance - thyroid hormone levels for thyroid gland dysfunction.
In the meantime, I would recommend increasing salt and caffeine intake. If you are taking any antihypertensive drugs, I would recommend reducing the dose or stopping them, until your blood pressure values will be high again.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
