I have a boil about the size of a pencil eraser, but the swelling around it is like the size of my palm. I am a 38 yr old, 182 lb female. I first noticed the boil 6 days ago. Went to my PCP 2 days later and she sent me to the er to have it lanced. Apparently they do not lance these things. The did put me on antibiotics. My question/ concern is.....what if the skin completly heals over it? Will I be left with a core inside that shoulda came out?
Hi. Boils heals completely with appropriate antibiotics. There are no core left. However, there might be some swelling left at the end of antibiotic therapy, but its not painful or red. It goes away with hot compress. There is nothing to worry about. Hope it answers your queries
