What Does A Greenish And Purplish Ring On Upper Lip Indicate?

I have a 5 year old boy, two day ago he was playing outside.I go outside to check on him when I see a greenish purplish all most black, ring on the top lips. I thought it was dirt so I wash his face it did come off. What is this, does this go way in time?

The greenish or purplish area over the lip could be a ecchymosis secondary to any injury to the lip like lip biting or any external injury. Nothing to be panic, wait for 1 week, if the lesion does not heal then consult a oral physician and get it evaluated.
