What Does A Itchy Rash On Pubic Area Indicate?

Hello, I am a male and for the past 2-3 months I have had a very itchy rash on my the right side of my pubic area at the bottom of my penis. I notice it itches more after sweating or sex and it does have a outline of a rash that is visible (2-3 inches wide). When I am not sweating and it is not irritated, it usually has a flaky white look to it. What could this be?

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I will keep a possibility of a fungal infection/tinea cruris.
Classically tinea presents as itchy scaly patches with central clearing and peripheral raised margin. The patches extend peripherally.
The diagnosis is mostly clinical however, a KOH examination for fungal elements is confirmatory for doubtful cases.
I suggest you to try an OTC topical antifungal e.g clotrimazole 1% cream, twice daily.
An OTC oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg once daily will provide you symptomatic relief from itching.
If the condition does'nt improve as expected I suggest you to review with a dermatologist.

Regards
