I have developed a rather large mass in my right breast. At first it was just there and I had no pain but now any pressure puts me in extreme pain and sometimes it just hurts for no plausible reason. Breast cancer doesn t run in the family, neither does any other type of cancer, so I m reluctant to jump to that conclusion.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Perhaps you have a skin and soft tissue infection (SSTI) most likely an abscess. Swelling and pain/tenderness are signs of it being a skin infection. I suggest you to take a course of an oral antibiotic, e.g., either Amoxicillin or Cephalexin, thrice daily for a week or 10 days. If it doesn't improve on this or worsens then there might be a need for a pus drainage. In addition, to the above I suggest you to take an anti-inflammatory/painkiller, e.g., either Ibuprofen or Diclofenac, for symptomatic relief from pain and swelling.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Kakkar S.
