What Does A Lump Below The Breast Indicate?

-My husband, age 51, has a pea-size lump beneath his left breast, under the skin but over the ribs, about halfway between his breast and the bottom of his rib age. Not painful. He is currently recovering from a mild case of shingles. Should he have the lump checked by a doctor? Thanks!
