What Does A Lump On The Fingertip Indicate?

A small cut on fingertip near side of nail has developed into a dark tumor-like growth. No foreign matter in finger. Have soaked finger in Epson salt, dipped it in peroxide several times per day for several weeks now. Dr treated with low dose steroids. Have returned to Dr 2x, but finger has not healed. He has consulted with associate physicians, but they seem to be as stumped as we are. Person has RH. Could this be connected in some way? Any ideas?
