What Does A Lump On The Neck Indicate?

my 72 yr old husband developed a lump on the side of his throat that seems to have developed within the last 2 days. We attended an oyster roast 2 days ago & had plenty of steamed oysters. Not sure if that has anything to do with the lump.
Thoughts?
