Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I have had a soft cystic type mass the size of a large marble on the front right side of my kneecap. It doesn t hurt terribly but when I press on my knee cap at times I can feel slight pain throughout the knee & the mass itself is slightly tender. When I first noticed it 2 months ago, my leg was actually sore. Since then, it has not grown in size but has not gotten smaller either. I notice discomfort more on some days than others. What could this be?
If bursa is painful surgical excision is treatment. If you want temporary relief intrabursal injection can be given which will give long term pain relief. There may be recurrence of pain after injection.
