What Does A Painful Lump Around The Groin Area Indicate?

I have a bulge on the left side of my upper groin and it hurts to touch. when I lay down on my back the pain is relieved slightly. I m concerned this is a hernia. As I work around the house or yard sometimes it hurts to bend over in that same location. any suggestions? Bob
