What Does A Scar From My Childhood Meningitis And Pertussis Infection, Which Spans Ear To Ear On My Neck, Mean?

Dear Doctor, I live in Australia and currently 77 years old. When I was 18 months old, I had the misfortune to be infected with Meningitis, along with Pertussis. I spent three weeks in an Iron Lung Unit. over the past years I have been on medication to control one sie effect, namely seizures. I have a sensitive scar on the back of my neck, it has shrunk in length over the years, but originally went from ear to ear, all my parents were told by the medicals at the time (1951) regarding this scar was a germ came out . Can you shed some light on what they meant by it? I have been trying to find answers to this question for years. It is not painful, but at times it gets itchy. Any info to this subject will be greatly appreciated. My email is offline, but you may be able to refer me to a specialist if you cann ot solve my problem Regards
