What Does A Sore Infected Bump On The Buttocks Indicate?

Hi i am taking care of a neighbor for the weekend, he is in his early 50s with diabetes. Yesterday i noticed on his right buttocks was this reddish bump or sore. Everything was fine, until this morning it popped on it s own, and now it wont stop coming out. He is not in pain, but its red and oozing a grayish-brown in the center of the sore. What could this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms can be related to a folliculitis which is an infection of the hair follicle.
I suggest to consult a doctor because of the fact that the patient is with diabetes which makes it difficult to treat the lesion at home.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
