What Does A Swollen Lump On The Neck Indicate?

I am experiencing a large swelling over my clavicle at the base of my neck on the left side. It is very soft & completely fills the size of my hand. Even my throat is feeling a little full as well. It is tender to the touch. It came on very suddenly with no previous trauma or symptoms of a virus. ??? Thank you for any input.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Since how long you are having the lump in the neck? Is it growing rapidly?

Lump filling the size of hand means 5*5 cm approx. (is it correct?)

If you are having night sweats and fever, then Tuberculosis has to be considered.

I have understood that there is small error in the query, why because sudden appearance of hand size lump is unlikely.

My suggestion is, please consult general surgeon and have his opinion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Siddartha
