What is Thyroid perox AB?:
Thyroid perox AB=
Thyroid Peroxidase Anti body ,
What can it do:
It can destroy cells of your thyroid gland which produce hormone so hormone goes down.
WHY Is it checked?:
When a patient come to us with signs of Low thyroid Gland (Hypothyroidsim)
We test his blood for hormone, if it is actually
hypothyroidism or our guess was wrong.
Why Thyroid perox AB tested?
"To Know The Reason Of Hypothyroidism"
Now as we have proved with
blood test the patient is hypothyroid we want to know why this happened ,there are other reasons too like low
iodine,damage to thyroid,
radiation or malformation but we test antibody to see if it was antibody which destroyed the thyroid,so it is tested .If antibody concentration is high in blood it proved to be the culprit of hypothyroidism.
Then the doctor gave you Armour(thyroid tablets) which compensated for the low production of hormone and your test came normal.
WHY antibody wasn't tested again:
Because when you already know the cause ,it isn't required to be tested again and again.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow
up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
Wishing you good health
