What Does An MRI Report Showing Increased Posterior Left Disc Herniation At L4-5 Indicate?

I am 76 years old. I have had lamenectomies on l3, 4 and 5 last November. I started having more pain and had an MRI this month. It shows that I have stable severe left neural foraminal stenosis on L5. Also shows increased posterior left disc hernia Timon at L4-5 further displacing the L5 neural elements from the lateral recess of the spinal canal. What is your diagnosis? Surgery and what kind

Hello,

I think that besides herniation, instability of your lumbar spine should be considered.

Dynamic (upright position, flexed and extended ) x-rays are necessary for evaluation of this possibility.

Surgery in such cases should aim to stabilize the spine and to decompress the neural structures.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
