Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 67 year old wife has dementia. She receives a laxative every day and normally has good bowel movements. Today she has had two bowel movements that had small feces about the diameter of her little finger. The first bowel movement had only one that size about an inch long and the second bowel movement has two that size. What causing this?
Hello, This could be just a normal variation but also may reflect an obstruction. Just watch her for the next few days and it the stools do not go back to normal or if she develops abdominal pain then she should see a doctor. Regards
