My husband appeared to have what looked like an infected hair on inside of thigh on left leg that became aggrevated by his pants. This was noticed 2 days ago. I cleaned area with peroxide and applied antibiotic ointment with bandage after checking to ensure there was no hair present. The next morning it appeared to be better, however last night it was worse with area bruised about an inch in diameter and area around that was red and warm like a sunburn. Tried ice which caused extreme pain immediately. Treated again and was not much better this morning- now it looks like there is an infection but now drainage is present. We are in an area where there is no option but the emergency room until Monday- what should we do?
Hello, Thanks for the query. You might have developed furuncles. These are deep bacterial infections. Treatment is with antibiotics but the choice of antibiotics should be based on culture and sensitivity tests. Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.
