What Does An Ultrasound Showing Endometrial Thickness Indicate?
I am 61 years old and my last period was 10 years ago. It returned spontaneously just as it was when I was in my 40s. I had a cbc and ultrasound done .. I was told the cbc was normal but the US showed a thickened endometrium layer that's too thick for my age.. I have a referral to a gyn doc Tuesday but want to know the probability I am looking at a cancer dx. There is no known blood relative who was diagnosed with any form of gyn CA... just breast (both maternal, paternal and grandmothers on both sides), colon and leukemia cancer.. All my PAPs and Breast exams have always been normal, and genetic BRAC 1&2 tests were negative.

hi.. endometrial thickness gives the. uterine cavity lining..if an excess estrogen in our body..it leads to increased endometrial thickness
anything beyond 5mm ET is not normal at this point of age
we need to take a biopsy as well for a tissue diagnosis that is confirmatory of the pathology
also MRI Pelvis..gives the endometrial lining and any extension of the tissue in the myometrium. helps in diagnosis of any cancer
