What Does Bilateral Prominent Renal Pelvis In Pregnancy Indicate?

hi im aish and im 22 weeks pregnant i have done ultrasound in tat it is shown as the bilateral prominent renal pelvis of right is 5.2 mm and left is 5 mm .my doctor said tat it is enlarged than normal,im worried about it whether it is dangerous or not for my baby.

Yes, the renal pelvis is dilated.. You need to get scan repeated after 1 month to see for the dilatation.. There can be many causes for dilated renal pelvis like PUJ obstruction etc.. There exact cause can be detected only after birth.. Most of the cases are treatable..Consult a urologist after next scan for expert opinion.. Hope I have answered your query.. Good day..
