What Does Blood Test Result Post Hep B Treatment Indicate?
HI, I RECENTLY HAD BLOOD WORK COMPLETED FOR HEP B. I AM A LITTLE CONFUSED ABOUT THE RESULTS AS FOLLOWS: HEB B SAB_REACTIVE HEB B SAG_NON REACTIVE HEB B IMMUNE STATUS_ 1000.00 SAMPLES WITH A VALUE OF 10/mIU/ml OR GREATER ARE CONSIDERED PROTECTIVE IN ACCORDANCE WITH CDC GUIDLINES PLEASE HELP ANY KNOWLEGE WOULD BE APPRECIATED THANKS.
This means you don't have hepatitis B and are immune to it, as you've likely been vaccinated.
HEP B SAB - reactive - this stands for "Hepatitis B Surface Antibody" which means that your blood has the antibodies, or the white blood cells that kill hepatitis B
HEP B SAG - non-reactive - this stands for "Hepatitis B Surface Antigen" Surface antigen means a little piece of the hepatitis B virus - which your test was non-reactive. This means there isn't evidence of hepatitis B in your blood.
HEP B IMMUNE STATUS 1000.00. If your titer value is greater than 10 (yours is clearly greater than that), then you are immune to hepatitis B.
In summary, this means you don't have hepatitis B and that you are immune to it. You've likely been vaccinated sometime in your life. If you can't remember, then thank your parents for getting you vaccinated.
I hope I have answered your question. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.
