Thank you for your question on HCM.
An allergic reaction can occur due when your body reacts to certain substances in the environment or anything which enters the body which can simulate an immune response in the body(i.e the body recognises it as a foreign body)what you might have experienced is what is known as anaphylaxis which is a severe form of an allergic reaction.during such episodes there are several chemical substances which our body releases in order to fight an immune response.theses chemical mediators cause many changes within our body which includes making the blood vessels leaky. This causes a drop in blood pressure.several other changes may also occur like difficulty in breathing, congestion of eyes and oral mucosa, swelling of the face, abdominal pain, nausea etc.the possible reason for this in your case could have been an allergic response to the anaesthetic agents which was administered to you.
Hope this information was useful for you.

Psychiatrist Dr. Sonia Malhotra's  Response
Dear patient,
Some people are allergic to anaesthetic agents and have a reaction called anaphylactic shock, where the bp sinks, heart rate races and breathing becomes irregular. Person becomes pale, cold and clammy. It is managed with intravenous drugs which was done in your case.
Please remember tellin your doctor about this incident each time you visit them so that they can be cautious with the drugs prescribed to you. Also, undergo an extensive drug allergy screening to know which drugs can be harmful to you.
