Brief Answer:
After performing the
thyroid ecography, you should see an
endocrinologist who may guide you into further diagnostic steps and may recommend you the treatment, if needed.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using HCM.
An echogenic finding (white spot) within the thyroid gland, on
ultrasound exam, may indicate different lesions, most common of which are: hyperechoic
adenoma, calcifications. The first one is a hypofunctional node, so called "cold" on thyroid schintigraphy, usually with an oval shape, smooth margins and little vascularity. While calcifications are a more common finding, suggesting calcium deposits within thyroid parenchyma (tissue) due to old nodes and chronic regressive changes. None of these two conditions is worth to worry about, but another thyroid ultrasound exam would be recommended in this case, including thyroid hormone levels assessment. After the results of the above mentioned exams will come, you should see an endocrinologist who may guide you into further diagnostic steps and recommend the treatment if needed.
Hope this is helpful.
