What Does Dark Brown Blood Discharge With Delayed Periods Mean?
Hello, My period is due at the start of October but for the last few days I have been experiencing unusual discharge. It s a very dark brown with more blood now than at the start and for me looks more typical of my period when it s just ending. I ve been feeling the usual symptoms I get when my period is approaching such as tiredness and heightened emotions, but my period has not come yet. Is there a high chance I could be pregnant? Am I right in thinking I m not as long as I see blood?
I can understand your concern. I would like to correct you here that if you see blood, you are not pregnant is not true. Starting days of pregnancy do give blood spotting and menstruation-like blood discharge. This is called implantation bleeding.
So if you have had unprotected sexual intercourse during the last month, there are chances that you might be pregnant. To confirm whether you are or not, you can take a home pregnancy test which is available over the counter in all medical stores.
Delay in menstruation of as long as 10 days is considered normal at times. However, if your periods are delayed for more than 10 days in absence of pregnancy, a physical check up by gynecologist and further investigations are recommended.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.
