What Does Dark Bruise On Upper Arm Which Developed To A Lump Indicate?

Hi, last week a very dark bruise appeared on my upper arm. Not painful at all, but I don't recall knocking it, so am mystified. Today I can feel a small, hard lump in the middle. Is this something I should go and get checked out with my Doctor, or should I wait and see if it goes away?
