What Does Elevated Levels Of Hyaline Casts Indicate?

I was just told to come in for a urine culture, as they found elevated levels of hyaline casts and some blood in my urine. Do not know how high the levels are. Have pain in my left side/back (like having urinary tract infection, but no other symptoms). I'm 42 and otherwise healthy.

Hi.
Hyaline casts r normal finding urine routine. U don't need to worry due to it.
RBCs >3/HPF & Pus cells >5/HPF are significant.
If pus cells r increased, u may have infection in urine & hence culture will be required.
If RBCs & pus cells r increased, u may have urine infection or stone disease usually.
Regarding pain in flank, u get an ultrasound or CT KUB. This will rule out stone disease.
If all is fine, then u need not worry. It may be only backache. Just get urine routine after a week & compare it with previous one.
