What Does Excessive Levels Of S-insulin In Blood Test Suggest?

Hi, i had a blood test done a month ago and my glocose/insulin ration for p-glucose fasting equals 5.7 mmol/L and s-Insulin equals 26.4 the latter being excessive. What does this mean? I have been prescribed glocophage XR tabs but don t really know what it does and how it will help and if this is a permanent thing or temporary? pse advise

Excess levels of insulin in body suggests that you are insulin resistant,the main culprit of Type 2 diabetes.After a period of time the blood sugar also starts to raise.Now the body is trying to compensate the insulin resistance by producing more and more insulin.Later a stage will come when the insulin resistance is so strong ,that time the body won't be able to bring down the blood sugar to the desired value.This is why your doctor has given you Metformin..Metformin will help you to reduce this insulin resistance.Other important is regular exercise.
