Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am experiencing some colicky left flank pain. No pain with kidney punch. no fever. Urine is more yellow. The pain today has happened and I was able to get it to go away with some moving around and then urinating. The mild discomfort now has returned and I am trying to decide what to do. This flank pain has happened twice previously while I was sleeping but within a matter of 20-25 minutes had passed not to return. I am 73 yrs old male.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I would advise you to get urine routine and microscopy, urine culture and sensitivity tests done. You might be suffering from urinary tract infection either primary or secondary. Also, its better to get an ultrasound abdomen to rule out renal stones etc. Blood investigations like blood urea and serum creatinine, to test for renal function status.
Also, consult a urologist as these problems might be secondary to benign prostatic hyperplasia .
Hope this helps,
Warm Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
