What Does Gooey Clump Discharge Indicate?

HI. I m not sure if I should go to the doctor and ask about this or if it s nothing, so i felt i should get an opinion first. First of all, I m 14, been on my period for about 2.5 years now. I just noticed this my last few times having my period, that sometimes when I would remove my tampon that there would be little red gooey clumps, and I m not sure if its the lining of my uterus, or what, but it s scaring me. And then usually in the shower i wash pretty good around my vagina, but today when i was in the shower when i was rinsing it off, this really big red gooey clump came out and not it hurts a little. Please let me know what you think it is.

OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

These clumps you explain which come on your tampon during your monthly cycles are nothing but the expelled uterine lining which occurs every time, sometimes the blood clots and it gives the picture of gooey clump which you describe. As far as the bleeding is not heavy and it is not painful there is no reason to worry.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
