What Does Growing, Soft Knot On Leg Suggest?

Hi I m 26, 6 ft tall, and 220 pounds. I ve had asthma as a child, and am allergic to a lot of diff things. My grandmother died of cancer last year. I have a knot on the side of my left leg. Its been there for several years now. ITs soft and it doesn t hurt. Its been the same size for a long time, so I didn t really worry about it. But now I it looks like it might be getting a little bigger. Its probably quarter size, and its much more noticable and pronounced when I m standing.

Hi,

A knot present in the leg could be anything, a venous swelling, a fibrotic boil, a lipoma or a cyst but usually such types of swelling are lipoma which is a benign neoplasia. If it is present for quiet a long time without causing any symptoms, forget about it. In case it starts producing new signs and symptoms, get a biopsy done to rule out the chances of malignancy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
