What Does Infection Of The Maxillary Sinuses Mean?

I had my upper teeth extracted for dentures back in Feb. Had a hole in my gum where molar was on left side that would not close up. Dentist closed it the first time and reopened. The second time he went to flush it out and found out that it was all hard in my gums. He scraped it out and put 30 some stictches in. Regular Dr. ordered a cat scan which showed post surgical change involving the superior medial aspects of the maxillary sinuses. repected sinus infections. what does this mean?

hello thanks for consulting at hcm..It is called oro-antral fistula, which is be due to opening of the mucosal to sinus region. Treatment includes repair using buccal pedicle flap or palatal pedicle flap,, even bio membranes can be used..you will need a course of antibiotics and analgesics,,please consult a oral surgeon for a check up and treatment..hope it helps,take care..
