What Does Intrauterine Gestational Sac 8.1 Mm Without Fetal Pole Or Yolk Sac Indicate?
HI, I left the ER this afternoon, and am a little confused about my discharge papers. It says Intrauterine gestational sac 8.1 mm without fetal pole or yolk sac. The nurse said i could be really early less then 8 weeks. and It could be too early to detect fetal pole and yolk sac. My ultrasound paper says 14 weeks? What does all of this mean?
Hello madam,I understand your concern.in my opinion this is a case of blighted ovum where in there will be empty gestational sac without any fetal pole and cardiac activity.here only sac grows but nothing will be there inside.usually fetal pole is seen at 6 wks.and gestational sac at 5 wks.depending on the measurement of the sac the number of weeks of pregnancy are given in ultrasound paper.so your report says your pregnancy is 14 wks with empty gestational sac.and there is no chance to continue this type of pregnancy.this may be due to some genetic cause .dont worry this is not going to repeat in further pregnancies mostly.for the next time start taking folic acid one month before planning the pregnancyand plan the pregnancy after 3 months rather than immediately.
