What Does It Mean To Have Soft Tissue Mass In Carotid Artery Of His Aortic Valve?

My husband was diagnosed after having a full body Cat scan at the VA hospital of having a soft tissue mass encasing his carotid artery and stretching down to the side of his aortic valve. They did a biopsy yesterday but we won t get results until next Friday. We are wanting to get him to another dr. as soon as possible but not sure of what type of dr. to seek. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your problem an situation.
Mass encasing carotid artery is mostly due to malignancy in neck.
Encasement of vessels is hallmark feature of malignant mass.
But biopsy is needed to confirm the diagnosis of cancer and also for the primary site of the cancer.
So for better understanding, I advice you to consult oncologist (cancer specialist). He also guide you in further treatment and prognosis also.
