Hi

Usually with a period cycle of 28/30 days, the 40th day ultrasound examination should have shown a baby sac ( gestational sac).
This ultrasound was after how many days of positive pregnancy test.
There is a possibility that you ovulated late and this is early pregnancy and that is why ultrasound did not show anything other than thick endometrium.
A second possibility is that this is not healthy pregnancy.
Since you have no other complaints like pain, bleeding per vagina, If I were your doctor I would suggest you to repeat ultrasound in 10 days time expecting to see baby sac by then.
If you are worried then do quantitative beta HCG two times at an interval of 48 hours. The second beta HCG level which has almost doubled compared to the first test result suggests healthy pregnancy.
I hope I have answered to your satisfaction.
